The Sean Chambers Band "Live From The
Long Island Blues
Warehouse"
I really love a good Live album, ever since listening receiving Peter Frampton's
"Frampton Comes Alive", for my 20th birthday, and The Sean Chambers Band's
newest release "Live From The Long Island Blues Warehouse", certainly is
one hell of a good Live album, especially if you really love great
Guitar
Driven Blues.
Sean Chambers has been
referred to as one of the Top 50 Blues Guitarists of the last
century by Guitarist Magazine, something you can totally believe after just a
few moments into "Live From The Long Island Blues Warehouse". Sean Chambers
honed his
skill as a Guitarist,
no doubt, with his stint with the Legendary Hubert Sumlin, where he was not only
the Band Leader, but also Lead Guitarist from 1998 till 2003. Sean Chambers
toured extensively, throughout the USA, Canada, and Europe, with Hubert Sumlin and later on, with his
band. Sean Chambers has also shared the stage with countless greats, such
as, Gregg Allman, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Otis Rush, Jeff Healey, Derek Trucks, Koko
Taylor, Bo Diddley, Rick Derringer, and James Cotton, just to name a very few. "Live
From The Long Island Blues Warehouse" falls on the heels of his
previous critically acclaimed release "Ten Til Midnight", which found itself on the The
Living Blues Charts for 3 months, as well as, reaching #5
on B.B. King's XM/Sirius Bluesville Charts and #6 on The House of Blues
Radio
Charts.
"Live From The Long Island Blues Warehouse" consists of 10
Tracks of no nonsense Straight Ahead Guitar Driven Blues. Of the 10
Tracks, Sean Chambers wrote 6 and co-wrote 1 with fellow Bassist Tim
Blair. Track 9 "Hip Shake Boogie" is a brand new song by Sean which makes
it's first appearance on this album. The 3 covers chosen for this album
were Fred James "Full Moon On Main Straight", Elmore James "Dust My
Broom", and Bill McLess's "Crazy for Loving You". "Live From The Long
Island Blues Warehouse" was recorded before a studio audience at EKO
Studio's on March 3, 2011 and released September 20, 2011. The name Long
Island Blues Warehouse actually refers to the name of a show that is
recorded Live at EKO Studio's and is one of many shows that they
produce.
"Live From The Long Island Blues Warehouse" is a good
opportunity to catch up on some of the great music Sean Chambers has
produced over the course of 3 previous albums, including 2 songs from "Ten
Til Midnight". Most of those songs you may not have heard before, but were
put on this album because they were fan favorites, such as Track 6
"Crazy For Loving You", Track 4 "Strong Temptation", and Track 8 "Too Much
Blues", and Track 10 "In The Winter Time". "Strong Temptation" was the
title Track from his first album.
For those of you whom think you are going to get a chance
for a bathroom break, or run to the kitchen for a quick snack, while
listening to "Live From The Long Island Blues Warehouse", think again, as
this puppy hits you hard and fast right out of the gates, and doesn't slow
down till the last epic 10 minute and 24 second closer "In The Winter
Time", by which time you are so enthralled with Sean's Guitar work, that
nothing could yank you from your seat. From the opening foot pedal powered
Track "Dixie 45", to Track 5 "Dust My Broom", which contains some great
Harmonica work via Gary Keith, to the unbelievable last Track "In The
Winter Time", this album is all thriller and no filler, for the better
part of 45 minutes.
"Live From The Long Island Blues Warehouse" proves why
Sean Chambers is considered amongst the very best when it comes to playing
his Blues Guitar, and he certainly proved that to me with this amazing
production.
"Live From The Long Island Blues Warehouse" is a big
winner for those whom like their Blues hard and heavy and enthusiastically
receives my highest rating of 5*****. An amazing album that I Highly
recommend and one that I Thoroughly Enjoyed and Enjoy listening to.
