About The Hinton Hart Band

Andy Hart and Steve Hinton originally hail from Halifax, Nova Scotia. As teenagers in the 1970s, their initiation to the blues came by way of underage entry to the local clubs and sitting in with whomever would lend encouragement to green behind the ears "bluesmen". They were well mentored by local blues legends Dutch Mason and Joe Murphy.

Relocation to the West Coast and the demands of young families made for sporadic musical collaboration until 1997 when the untimely passing of Dave MacLeod, long-time friend and supporter of live music, reaffirmed the need to make music and to live life. The Hinton Hart band was formed the following year and has been laying down their own brand of original and traditional blues in clubs, at house parties and private functions in and around Vancouver ever since.

Along this musical journey, the Hinton Hart Band sound has been shaped by the contributions of many of the top blues and roots musicians in Vancouver. These fine players have all brought their own voice and experience to the band and have helped expand and reinterpret a repertoire of classic and lesser known blues, R&B, jump Blues and early Rock and Roll.

Past and present band members and musical brothers include- drums: Harold Haynes, Steve Taylor, Sandy Bone, James Badger, Rob Ferguson.- bass: Blake Gasena, Brent Lawrence, Trevor Newman, Peter Walker.- guitars: Dave Paterson, John Kissel, Dave Dykhuizen, Steve Kozak, Peter Walker- keys: Dave Webb, Steve Ranta- saxophone: Jerry Cook- harmonica: Brian Mcfayden.
