Summer & The Sinners
"Boogie with the Devil"

|
BIG MAMA SUMMER certainly knows how to lay down the BLUES with her unique power packed style of singing. Summer delivers the goods and provides some exciting new twists on this brand new release, but it is "PHONE BOOTH" where I found Summer stepping outside of her usual zone of her singing style and this song is so cool, you will be spinning it constantly. Of course, as usual there is a stalwart performance by Buddy Love as he continues his labor of love and delivers great support throughout the entire album on rhythm guitar. There is some superb percussion by producer Paul Nixon and with tasty keyboard stylings throughout by Brendan Hedley. The album is spiced up with some sassy saxophone by Paul Wainwright while Dave Vidal delivers some killer guitar with Dave Gogo offering up some fine support on a couple of tracks. There are many other great blues tunes like "Ooh Baby", "Big Boss Man" and "Breaking Up Some Body's Home". Don't Miss out on what could be one of the Year's Best Blues Albums anywhere. Listen & Purchase Courtesy of Bullfrog Music http://www.bullfrogmusic.com/shopexd.asp?id=368 Summer, along with her great band the Sinners, burns through each Song, with the kind of intensity we all expect of Blues Artists, creating a sense of anticipation for each song to begin and not being disappointed in the least. One of the songs I was quite happen to see on "Boogie with the Devil" was Ti-Na-Ni-Na-Nu. This is one of my favorites since first hearing it being belted out by Ellie, of the Vaqueros, a few years back. Summer does a great job with that one. Of note with "Boogie with the Devil" is the guest appearance of David Gogo for a few tracks, Sinners Boogie and Independence Blues, for which he doesn't pull any stops in giving us Good Vintage Gogo. Like good chocolate, "Boogie with the Devil" is addictive and will grow on you each time you listen to it, always giving you the right flavor.
