SONIC BLUE are a band of seasoned musicians playing an exciting brand of funky, old-school R&B & blues-rock, with a track record that covers festivals, and gigs at every level, sessions, TV and recording. Featuring in their set a good dose of funk, rock and blues and playing classic blues and R&B along with some original numbers, SONIC BLUE have been gigging hard and generating excitement. Songs by Howling Wolf, Ray Charles, John Lee Hooker, Sonny Boy Williamson, The Yardbirds, Freddie King, Bo Diddley, The Doors and Jimi Hendrix come up sounding fresh and funky in committed, original interpretations by SONIC BLUE. STEVE BRAYNE, on vocals, guitar and blues-harp, has been playing since the blues boom of the ‘60s. A member of the cult pop-psych band Fox and following twenty years of gigging round clubs, pubs and colleges, with blues-rock band Big Road, playing harp with The Barker Band and appearing with the Brighton Blues Corporation, Steve formed SONIC BLUE in late 2009. MATT PERCIVAL, on lead guitar, has toured and recorded with Blues Abuse, The Duplicates and the Mishmash Band and brings a wealth of funky rhythm and tasty blues lines to the band. STEVE SHONE, on bass guitar, has toured and recorded with such artists as Tina Turner, Robert Plant, Graham Bond, Trevor Horn, Vangelis and Kim Wylde. With decades of musical experience, from fusion and R&B to rock and jazz, and as a sought after session player, Steve brings a rock-solid, funky foundation to the band. RICHARD MARCANGELO, on drums, provides the
imaginative, rhythmic drive and energy to complete the rhythm section. A
top session player, Richard has toured and recorded with artists,
including Rumer, Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, AfroCelt Sound System, Robert
Plant, Desmond Dekker and Chris Rea to name a few. Richard also has
