Hi Everyone, ...This June marks what would have been the 7th Anniversary of the Blues Underground Network (Kamloops Chapter) and as I have done last year and will continue to do for the
foreseeable future, here is my tribute to the Blues Underground Network (Kamloops Chapter)
http://www.bluesundergroundnetwork.com/Pictorial_History.html I would like to again send out my thanks and appreciation to the following individuals whom unselfishly volunteered their time and effort, always putting the Membership, First and Foremost, in their Thoughts and Actions. Vince Almond, Rob "Hazy" & Debbie Heys, Lissa & Bruce Campbell, Barbara Zimonick, Don Marshall, Gregg Fenell, and Gary & Goode Wolfe. ...I added one new addition to the Main Website, called The Music Rooms. The Music Rooms consists of a list of Artists whom when you click on their link it directs you to another page I have set up which displays their music player at ReverbNation. This allows you to quickly listen to the artists music to see if you like it or not. ...It is sad to here that Steve Kozak's Blues Jam At Amberjack's, is no longer happening. I really enjoyed seeing and sharing the excellent video's he hosted at Amberjack's. ...Lots of New Videos At Blues Underground Network @YouTube including Videos of Jason Ricci and Walter Trout, Little Walter R&R Hall of Fame film, Iggy Pop, Koko Taylor, Albert Collins and Duke Robillard, Buckwheat Zydeco, and Many More. Blues Underground Network @YouTube now consists of over 268 great videos.
Their debut recording last year, Pay Me No Mind, led to the Homemade Jamz receiving a Blues Music Award nomination for Best New Artist Debut. Along the way, they appeared on the Today Show, were featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered”, and profiled on the CBS Sunday Morning News. Their new CD, I Got Blues For You, showcases some incredible songwriting, Ryan’s fantastic lead guitar, Kyle’s booming bass lines, and Taya’s hard-hitting drums.
Review By Jordan Warford, Editorial Manager for Guitar Tips. You've probably noticed by now that this editor has a thing for blues... Not just any blues but soulful blues. That's why I flipped out when Tommy sent me an email responding to my cry for new bands to be featured in our newsletters. Not only is Buck69 talented, well put together and ready for the big stage but they also have a tone that keeps you coming back for more. The use of lead and rhythm guitar is done to a classic drumbeat and vocals that rock the house. This band is there for the music and it's that transparency that makes them uniquely refreshing. If you like to dance, sing and shout, I have a feeling that Buck69 is for you. As I danced around my office when I was checking this band out, I could hardly imagine how much fun it would be to see them live. I highly recommend this band to anyone who enjoys rock or blues. Very impressive licks mixed in with a great drumbeat that makes a groove you can't help but listen to. I have very high expectations for this group and have no doubts that they will continue to improve as they walk up the ladder to a major record deal and national attention. Best of luck from everyone here at Guitar Tips!
Modern, contemporary blues with a taste of funk. Music that turns the corner. A little bit of something for everyone.

Trading 8s is a wonderful CD that will appeal to many different guitar fans. Carl’s ability to craft songs and adapt his playing with these many artists is most astounding. Do yourself a favor...if you love great guitar playing go buy this CD. Ken Volpe - GJD http://www.guitarjamdaily.com/
Raised in the church but evidently born to sing the blues, Shirley Johnson belts like a spiritual daughter of Koko Taylor, flexing her husky voice on ballads and up-tempo love songs, hitting gravel when she reaches for a higher note or pushes her volume. --Ted Drozdowski, Pulse Magazine
Review By John Vermilyea (Blues Underground Network) http://www.bluesundergroundnetwork.com/ Being able to cross that line from simply being good to absolutely being great is a task not every musician has the capability of doing, unless we are talking about Ronnie Earl. With "Living in the Light", it is very clear that Ronnie Earl has thrown down the gauntlet to his fellow musicians and in doing so has raised the bar way above any level most Artists are accustomed to. After listening to "Living in the Light", it becomes quickly apparent that this music comes from a very special place, that Ronnie along with his Broadcasters and Guests were able to bring to the forefront and in doing so they were able to present a truly satisfying mix of Blues, Gospel, and Soul to their ever growing fan base. "Living in the Light" will be considered one of Ronnie's best Albums, now and certainly for the foreseeable future. I have no doubt that "Living in the Light" will be well recognized come awards season, but I highly doubt that is the reason Ronnie created this masterpiece.
Duke Robillard hits another one out of the ballpark as his 16th album for Stony Plain turns the clock back to the rockin' R&B of the '40s and '50s.
Over 40 years after performing his very first show at age eight for a crowd of 3,000 people in his hometown of Kansas City, Kansas - singer, songwriter and guitarist Glenn Patrik brings a lifetime of struggle and soul, joy and pain and hard-driving blues playing to his long awaited second CD, Nuthin' But A Thang!
THE INSOMNIACS' brand new release "AT LEAST I'M NOT WITH YOU" (April 21, 2009/Delta Groove Music), the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed debut "Left Coast Blues", was recorded in only two days. The Portland, OR-based band led by 27-year old vocalist/guitarist/songwriter VYASA DODSON, together with bassist DEAN MUELLER, keyboardist ALEX SHAKERI and drummer DAVE MELYAN, laid down an astounding set of material that had been finely tuned night after night out on the road over the last two years. This release had the benefit of production help from Jeff Scott Fleenor from Delta Groove and the quality sound of one of the finest recording studios on the West Coast (Clear Lake Audio). Joined by special guests Al Blake (harmonica), Mitch Kashmar (harmonica), Joel Paterson (pedal steel guitar), and Jeff Turmes (tenor/baritone sax), The Insomniacs expand on their original intoxicating formula -- a mix of blues, swing, jump, and roots rock -- and deliver what is sure to become an instant classic.
When Jason Ricci & New Blood launched "Rocket Number 9," their debut release for Eclecto Groove Records, they turned the blues world on their respective ear with a visionary and sonically bombastic recording that created a legion of new fans and spent a total of 7 weeks on the Billboard Blues Charts peaking at #4. "Done With The Devil" is easily Ricci & New Blood's most ambitious project yet. An album filled with a diverse array of instrumentation that includes chromatic, diatonic, chord and polyphonia harmonicas; tuba, bass harmonica, electric and upright bass; electric, acoustic and dobro guitars; Hammond B-3 and various percussion, plus additional special guests including ace blues guitarist Shawn Kellerman CD Baby
Every now and then, an artist emerges and bursts fully mature on the scene. Ernie Southern is one of those few. A pleasant surprise, his style is authentic, evoking both the "soul" and "spirit" of the masters.
