The JW-Jones Blues Band
"Kissing in 29 Days"
(Northern Blues)

Review by John Vermilyea (Blues Underground Network)

What do you get when you mix Big Bass Thumpin' Saxy Swing Blues with a Pinch of Good Old 50's Style Rock N Roll, a Dash of everyone's Favorite Dance Band, Brickhouse, and finish it all off by adding the Crooner of the Blues, JW_Jones? Well the answer is clear, you get The JW_Jones Blues Band and their Newest CD "Kissing in 29 Days".

After listening to "Kissing in 29 Days", I quickly realized why JW_Jones has gotten such wonderful accolades, such as;

"This is an amazing blues band" Dan Aykroyd (Elwood Blues), Hollywood Movie Star

“JW Jones is one of the best guitar players I’ve heard in a long time. He and his band do great tunes with cool arrangements and I love listening to them. They play with taste and fire at the same time." Charlie Musselwhite

"Jones' style is a fluid amalgam of T-Bone Walker's big, bright chords, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson's slashing leads, and Gatemouth Brown's jazzy sting". Blues Revue Magazine

to name just a few.

Kissing in 29 Days is JW_Jones 4th CD, and as with all previous CD's, each successor has gotten better.

Kissing in 29 Days consist of 14 Tracks, of which all but 3 are Originals, and the ones that are not Originals, are great covers, Milton Campbell (Hey Girl), Jimmy McCracklin (Pretty Little Sweet Thing), and Ray Charles (Hallelujah I Love Her So), done to the high standards befitting their Legendary Status.

For those of you in my neck of the woods, which is British Columbia, listening to The JW_Jones Blues Band "Kissing in 29 Days" CD will be reminiscent of some of the Great Talent out here, such as, Powder Blues, The Willows, Steve Kozak's Westcoast Blues Revue, VP & The Hammerheads, and yes Brickhouse. In fact, Track 13 "No Love", is eerily like Brickhouse.

Showing the growth of this amazing Artist, only still in his 20's, not content to just be singer, guitarist, songwriter and yes arranger, for "Kissing in 29 Days" he also decides to show yet more talent by being producer, as well.

Guest Starring on, "Kissing in 29 Days", is Sax Legend David ‘Fathead’ Newman, whom was a sax Player for Ray Charles, for quite a while, and whom offers his magic on 3 Tracks.

Kissing in 29 Days was a pleasure to listen to and has made me an instant fan of JW Jones, for which I shall be following his career, with anticipation, from here on in and enjoying the Swing Style Blues even more.

Favorite Tracks were, "Fly To You", "No Love", and Standing In Line"

I give this CD, my highest rating, Five *****
The JW_Jones Blues Band "Kissing in 29 Days" Is A Must Listen To CD

JW-Jones recording with Little Charlie Baty, and Junior Watson.

Charlie and Junior have never recorded on the same tracks together in a combined 70 year history. Now, the two most influential blues guitarists to surface in the last 3 decades are seen here in the studio!

This has been called a "recording of historic importance", and also features Richard Innes and Larry Taylor.

This song ("Double Eyed Whammy" by Freddy King) appears on the new release by JW-Jones in 2008!
