Chris Watson "Just For Show..."

Info and Reviews

When a musician puts out an Album of only his songs, he is certain that one of two things are going to happen and that is he is either going to be receiving well deserved accolades or dissapointing criticism. Well I can tell you right now that I have no intention of giving Chris Watson anything other than well deserved accolades, for his newest release, "Just For Show...".

With "Just For Show...", Chris Watson shows us all just how immensely talented this still quite young, Blues Rock aficionado is, offering up 10 great tracks that leave you just wanting to play them all over again. From "No Sympathy" to "T Bone Swing", Chris Watson shows us that not only does he know how to play great music, but also that he understands the history that goes with the style of music, as well.

Chris Watson got his first guitar at 13, and wasted no time studying and playing music from greats such as, "BB King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Garth Brooks, and many others."

Putting out great music, of course, also requires that you have a great ensemble of musicians, working with you, and Chris Watson certainly has that. Besides Chris Watson, the Chris Watson Band consists of Bill Cornish (Bass), Brian "H-Bomb" Ferguson (Drums), Eric "Scorch" Scotia (Keyboard, Piano), Mike Brown (Bass), and Glen "Bono" Saunders (Drums), all pitching in as needed to produce this gem of an Album.

With music like this, I have no doubt that Chris Watson will be at the forefront of the Blues Rock Music Scene, for a very long time and I have no trouble at all giving him my highest recommendation.

About Chris Watson

Chris Watson, the rapidly emerging, blues-rock singer/songwriter will be kicking off his 2010 tour this Thursday, January 28th, with a performance at the legendary Little Bear Saloon in Evergreen Colorado. The Colorado leg of his tour will continue to the Ghost Ranch Saloon in Steamboat Springs and finally the Crooked Creek Saloon in Winter Park. Fans are encouraged to arrive at the venues early as these dates are expected to sell out quickly.

Chris Watson has shared the stage with some of the country's biggest stars including .38 Special, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Buddy Guy, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Tab Benoit, Guitar Shorty, The Arc Angels, Walter Trout and many more. Chris is currently touring in support of his new CD, “Just For Show”, on GatorGroove Records. “Just For Show” was released nationally on November 19, 2009 by Burnside Distribution Corp. and is in stores across the country.

In October 2009, prior to release, “Just For Show” was receiving airplay on over 300 stations across the country as well as in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Europe. “Just For Show” charted #28 the first month released, and was put into syndication to 125 stations where it was heard by over 2,066,00 listeners.

Combining southern rock flair with a deep blues foundation, the Chris Watson Band is a true Texas Rock Band. Front man Chris Watson has been described as an “old soul” and a “guitar-slinger.” Watson exudes a singing and songwriting ability that's seasoned beyond his years.

Growing up in a musical household, Chris’ father was a major blues lover and supporter. Later, Chris became interested in playing the guitar and wanted to imitate the blues men he had grown up listening to. Around age 13 he received his first guitar and amplifier and proceeded to reproduce the sounds from such guitarists as BB King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Garth Brooks, and many others.

It was apparent early on that he had a tremendous knack for playing the guitar. After learning a few scales and chords, Chris was off to the races soaking up anything musical he could find. Not too long after learning the fundamentals Chris was performing at local jams.

The Chris Watson Band is now a staple on the Denton music scene, as well as the greater Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Chris has taken everything he has learned from the old blues men, country stars, and tapes that he used to listen to as a child and added his own unique touch, style and feel to create a Blues Rock sound that isn't subjective to any particular demographic. Following his performances, fans of all ages and backgrounds flock to Watson, sharing how much they enjoyed the show and asking how they can become involved in future events.
