I am really kicking myself for having these 2 albums on the bottom of my pile
of CD's, for so long, before taking the wrappers off and plopping them in the
old player. I had made the assumption, based solely on the CD's names, that
these 2 Albums were not something I was going to like, but boy oh boy was I
ever wrong.
Black Angel has put out a few of these "O'" Albums (O' California, O' Santa Barbara and O' Los Angeles and O' San
Francisco) and I for one am sure glad they did. These Albums are a rich mixture
of early Rolling Stones style Rock 'N' Roll, mixed in with a little
Reggae, Country Rock, Pop and Americana, that will take you back a few years to
when that type of music was simply good music and really enjoyable to listen
to. Looking through the liners notes I noticed that Black Angel
has an exceptional yet varied lineup of artists for each of these Albums, which
is a testament to this superb bands ability to adept and meld like few others
band could. Black Angel has played at many of the Legendary
Clubs such as B. B. King's Blues Club, The Coach House (San Juan Capistrano), Paladino's, Rusty's Surf Ranch,
and The Cat Club, to name a few and since their inception to the music scene,
they have continue to receive rave reviews and acclaim and one only has to
listen to these 2 great releases to know why. I give both
these CD's, my highest rating, Five *****. These are great, well done CD's,
sure to please all and will, I guarantee you, get your head a bobbin' to the
music, just like the good old days.

Info
Black Angel's latest album, "O' San Francisco", was produced by the late Ben Martin who died in San Francisco on July 26, 2008. Ben helped produce the earlier "O' California" and "O' San Francisco" albums, but was solely responsible for the "O' San Francisco" album coming into being. We miss Ben terribly and his loss has left a hole in our souls.

HISTORY
Black Angel began in Santa Barbara in 1999 with J. C. Martin leading the band, but with the addition of Audrey Turner (previously with the Ike Turner Review and later Mrs. Ike Turner) as a vocalist and Ronnie Turner (only son of both Tina and Ike Turner) on bass.
The band was originally called The Prophets and played in major Los Angeles and Santa Barbara clubs such as The Roxy, Jack's Sugar Shack, Luna Park and the Wildcat Lounge. The Prophets released one CD, "The Prophets EP", in 1999. Since then the band has released four full length albums, "13 Stories"; "Real Music for Real People": "O' California"; and "O' Santa Barbara".
Since December, 2006, the band has recorded four new albums (O' California, O' Santa Barbara and O' Los Angeles and O' San Francisco).
The 'O California album was released in December, 2006. Black Angel has played shows at such Southern California clubs as B. B. King's Blues Club, The Coach House (San Juan Capistrano), Paladino's, Rusty's Surf Ranch, The Cat Club, The Creekside Inn, the Martini Lounge, The Tryst, SRI (Studio Instrument Rentals) Showcase, The Musicians Institute, The Scientology Celebrity Center and The Tryst.
Black Angel's new album, 'O California, is a mixture of rock 'n' roll, country rock, pop and country tunes in the vein of Hotel California, Exile on Main Street and the Beatles White Album.
